Safe glazing
alternatives are readily available
SAFTIFIRST
offers innovative fire-rated safety glazing solutions. We provide a range of options to replace traditional wired glass. And now, SAFTIFIRST also offers a certified field-filming program as the most inexpensive way to upgrade existing wired and ceramic glazing to meet the highest CPSC impact-safety standards. SAFTIFIRST is an American manufacturer with distributors throughout the U.S.
Each of the SAFTIFIRST products described below meet the
highest impact resistance standard of the federal Consumer
Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which means they can withstand
400 foot pounds of impact (Cat II).
-
SuperLite I rated 20 to 30 minutes, a
cost-effective specialty tempered, wireless glazing
alternative.
-
SuperLite I-XL rated 20 to 60 minutes, the
first patented, heat-reflective specialty tempered,
fire-rated glass in the U.S. AHJ approval necessary for
applications requiring hose stream test.
-
SuperLite I-W rated 20 to 90 minutes, the first
patented safety wired glass product to meet the highest
federal impact standard.
-
SuperLite II-XL rated 20 to 120 minutes,
offers high-performance resistance to the transmission of
radiant heat. Meets ASTM E119 test requirements as a barrier
to temperature rise.
-
Pyran® Platinum F rated 20 to 180 minutes, an
environmentally friendly ceramic glass free of toxins and
heavy metals, offers optical clarity without an unsightly
tint or the additional cost of surface polishing often
required of other ceramic glass products.
-
Certified Field Filming Program designed
to upgrade existing fire-rated wired and ceramic glazing to
meet the highest CPSC impact-resistance standard.
Note: Fire-rated glazing applications of 60 minutes or more
may impose a size limitation of 100 square inches.
Choose
replacement glass carefully
A word of caution. It is important that
the glazing used to replace unsafe wired glass meets both
impact-safety and fire-safety standards. This is especially
challenging because Underwriters Laboratories (UL) continues
to certify and mark unsafe, traditional wired glass. Unsafe
and illegal wired glass with the UL mark is currently on the
marketplace. SAFTIFIRST products are tested and marked by
Intertek/Warnock Hersey (WHI), which is the
equivalent of a
UL mark. Each of the SAFTIFIRST products listed above are guaranteed
to meet the highest federal impact standard and all
fire-safety and building code standards.
Stimulus
money can be used to replace unsafe wired glass
Two of the 12 school stimulus funding programs are ideal for upgrading unsafe wired glass: the $48.6 billion State Fiscal Stabilization Fund; and the $22 billion Qualified School Construction Bond (QSCB) program. Take advantage of the stimulus money from the U.S. Department of Education to make your schools safer by replacing unsafe wired glass with SAFTIFIRST glazing solutions that meet both the highest impact safety standards as well as fire-safety building codes.
